(Khmer Times News): The National Bank of Cambodia today announced the release of new 100,000 and 50,000 riel banknotes.
The new 100,000 riel banknote is 170 mm long and 75 mm wide, coloured green and grey.
On the front side, the portraits of the former King Norodom Sihanouk and Her Majesty Queen Norodom Monineath Sihanouk are depicted, as well as the image of the Sangkha of the Kingdom of Cambodia, and a nine-headed dragon sculpture.
In addition, the banknote also bears the signatures of the Governor and the General Secretary, along with the number 100,000 in several places.
At the bottom edge, there is a warning that counterfeiters will be punished according to the law, to ensure security.
The new 50,000 riel banknote measures 155 mm long and 72 mm wide, coloured blue and brown.
On the front, the banknote depicts the former King Norodom Sihanouk, the royal crown, the number 50000, a signature, the royal sceptre, a seven-headed dragon statue, and a warning against counterfeiters.
To ensure security, the banknote also has a 1.2 mm magnetic security strip running from top to bottom.
