On December 31, 2024, the National Bank of Cambodia released an announcement on preventing counterfeit U.S. dollars to banking and financial institutions and the public, such as the following:

1. The banking and financial institutions withdrew counterfeit U.S. dollars from customers without compensation and sent them to the US Secret Service with the report as attached in the appendix to further investigate.

2. Banking and financial institutions keep information about the identities of customers who traffic counterfeit U.S. dollars and provide this information to the National Bank of Cambodia; and

3. The public must be very careful and thoroughly examined before accepting the US dollar and in case of suspected counterfeit U.S. dollars, please provide information to the National Bank of Cambodia.

The National Bank of Cambodia encourages banking and financial institutions to introduce their clients to know how to identify real U.S. dollars to participate in the prevention of counterfeit U.S. dollars.
