Ministry of Information of Cambodia: Cambodian Prime Minister, SamdechThipadei Hun Manet, received Mr Carlos Felipe Jaramillo, World Bank Vice President for East Asia and the Pacific, on March 17, 2026.
The World Bank Vice President lauded Cambodia’s progress and expressed support for the country’s goal of becoming a high-income country by 2050. He also briefed Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet on ongoing projects supported by the World Bank in Cambodia.
Currently, the World Bank has prioritized providing assistance to countries, including Cambodia, in creating job opportunities for its people, focusing on five potential sectors: Agriculture and agribusiness, Tourism, Manufacturing, Health and Infrastructure development.
In this regard, the World Bank will continue to strengthen and promote close cooperation with the private sector, which is a key engine of growth in job creation and economic development. He also informed the Cambodian Prime Minister that the World Bank is strongly committed to continuing to support and expand cooperation with the Royal Government of Cambodia to promote Cambodia’s socio-economic development to be more dynamic and sustainable.
For his part, Cambodian Prime Minister highly appreciated the good cooperation between the World Bank and the Royal Government of Cambodia, as well as the support for the implementation of the Pentagon-Phase I policies and strategies in promoting Cambodia to achieve the vision of becoming a high-income country by 2050.
The Cambodian Prime Minister also informed the Vice President of the World Bank about the introduction of policies to promote several priority sectors of the Royal Government to build Cambodia's resilience, including: building human capital, vocational training, education, health, and strengthening the financial sector, attracting investment, developing small and medium enterprises, and developing production capacity to serve the local market, as well as introducing necessary measures to make the investment environment in Cambodia more attractive and competitive, to ensure the resilience of Cambodia's socio-economic development.
